Robbers raid eight streets in Mushin, destroy 30 cars

There were fears and tension in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Monday morning after about 60 robbers operated on no fewer than eight streets and destroyed about 30 vehicles.

Some residents told our correspondent that the robbers also raped some young ladies and operated unchallenged for about seven hours.

The hoodlums, who reportedly belonged to two cult groups – Akala boys and Toheeb’s gang – ravaged New Balogun, Euba, Ayonuga, Tiamiyu, Haruna, Ereko, Oyedele streets and Coker Lane.

Armed robbers who wrote residents of New Oko Oba last Friday telling them to prepare for their visit carried out their threat five days later when they struck early on Wednesday morning 26 June, 2013, at Church Street, off Olaniyi Street, New Oko-Oba Lagos state, southwest Nigeria.

In the said letter, the robbers allegedly told the residents to prepare for their visit as they were coming for money, gold or blood.

Robbers shoot Daily Sun Editor

The Editor of Daily Sun newspaper, Steve Nwosu, was yesterday shot in the head by unknown gunmen in the Maza Maza area of Lagos as he left a bank. The editor was attacked and shot in the right side of the head by  gunmen, who robbed him of N250, 000 before fleeing the scene of the robbery on a motorbike.
The doctor, taking care of him described the incident as “a close shave with death,” but said Mr. Nwosu was stable and in high spirits.
