Fatal accident on Benin-Lagos Expressway

An early morning auto accident on the Benin-Lagos Expressway yesterday claimed the lives of 13 passengers.

Three others were injured.

The victims included 16 male passengers who left Lagos for  Onitsha, Anambra State in a Toyota Hiace commercial bus marked YB 610 EPE with the inscription ‘Anambra Mass Transit’. 

According to Mr. Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Corps Public Education official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Toll Gate near Ovia North East council area of Edo State, the ill-fated bus had a collision with  an IVECO truck with registration number AAA 962 XB.

Kazeem attributed the cause of the carnage to violation of road traffic by one of the vehicles at a village near Ohusu, Edo State.

Accident at Dopemu, Lagos.

An accident occurred on the Dopemu bridge inward Agege axis this morning at about 7:15am. Details was still sketch at the point of this report but from i gathered from eye witness, the vehicle was said to have loss control while trying to avoid a ditch on the bridge before falling off the bridge on to the Taxi Park Structure just beside the bridge.

The Nigerian police and LASTMA officials were seen trying to control the situation and the injured victims have be taken to a nearby hospital.
