Another mad ritualist arrested in Benin

A suspected ritual killer who specialises in selling human parts has been arrested by security operatives in Benin City, the Edo State capital, southern Nigeria.

The suspected ritualist was arrested at the Upper Sokponba road area of Benin with a gun, different human parts and N4 million cash. It was reliably gathered that the man had lived in a make-shift apartment for close to two years, pretending to be a madman.

Eyewitness account states that the suspected ritual killer was in the habit of behaving funny especially when it is getting dark. “This man sometimes behaves funny. In the afternoon, you will see him bathing naked, behaving like a real madman.

“What really disturbed us are the dead bodies found around almost the same area. The most serious issues is that if a dead body is that of a woman, the head, the breasts and the private part would have been removed. Same also goes for a male dead body.

He suggested that someone might have seen the suspect dumping the headless body on the express road and informed the security operatives.

One dies, several ill after New Year party in Benin

The end of the year party organized by the Benin office of Nigeria’s Integrated Data Services Limited for its retiring staff has landed several persons in the hospital.
The management of the company has launched an investigation into the suspected food poisoning case that landed unspecified number of persons who were served food at the party, while others had running stomach and one person allegedly lost his life.
Staff who ate the food, irrespective of the type, reported some reactions, later that day. Some reportedly experienced diarrhea, while some experienced vomiting alongside the stooling. It was obvious from the number of people involved that food poisoning could not be ruled out, though this has not been officially stated to be the case.

Fatal accident on Benin-Lagos Expressway

An early morning auto accident on the Benin-Lagos Expressway yesterday claimed the lives of 13 passengers.

Three others were injured.

The victims included 16 male passengers who left Lagos for  Onitsha, Anambra State in a Toyota Hiace commercial bus marked YB 610 EPE with the inscription ‘Anambra Mass Transit’.

According to Mr. Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Corps Public Education official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Toll Gate near Ovia North East council area of Edo State, the ill-fated bus had a collision with  an IVECO truck with registration number AAA 962 XB.

Kazeem attributed the cause of the carnage to violation of road traffic by one of the vehicles at a village near Ohusu, Edo State.
