President Obama Takes a Surprise Walk

The President was heading over to the nearby Department of the Interior and decided to break with tradition and take a Springtime walk. On the way, he got a chance to meet with all sorts of folks, who weren't expecting to meet the President of the United States of America.

Obama chatted with tourists, shopkeepers and children during his walk to and from the Interior Department.

As one woman out shook his hand, she asked, "Are you real?". The President said he was.  Another asked him if it was okay to get a picture and as Obama agreed, she said, "Omigosh! Someone's gonna think you're wax."

Christian Okoye Calls Out President Jonathan

NFL legend Christian Okoye, one of the most famous Nigerian-born athletes of all-time is calling out the President of Nigeria, saying he FAILED to take immediate action after over 200 girls were abducted ... and it makes him sick. 

Okoye, who lived in Nigeria until he was 21 says he's been following the terror crisis in his homeland and says it's "very unfortunate that things like this can go on without the world's knowledge."

I watched with dismay as President Goodluck Jonathan made a caricature of himself and brought the revered office of the President and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, to an all time low yesterday in Kano during a PDP Jamboree he personally attended 24 hours after the Abuja bomb explosion.

When it was time to deliver his 15 minutes speech, President Jonathan was pathetic. He left no one in doubt that he was a complete waste of space. He did not address cogent national issues and how he has made a difference in addressing the challenges facing the nation.

GEJ earmarks $1bn to checkmate oil theft, vandalism

President Goodluck Jonathan said at the weekend his administration has earmarked $1 billion to implement a comprehensive programme to check crude oil theft, the vandalism of oil and gas infrastructure, and the apprehension and prosecution of suspects.

He disclosed this at The Hague while speaking with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte and the Chief Executive Officer of Shell International, Mr. Ben van Beurden.
The President said that a technical committee has already been set up to look into all aspects of the implementation of the programme.

This, Jonathan said, will include further action to enhance the security of pipelines and other oil industry infrastructure, resolve community-related issues, boost youth empowerment in oil-producing areas and enhance the commitment of oil companies to the discharge of their corporate social responsibilities.

Jonathan said that the fresh onslaught against oil theft planned by his administration will require the maximum co-operation of the international community, especially countries like the Netherlands which are major stakeholders in the global oil industry.

GEJ sack and immediate replaces Aviation service heads

His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has approved the following re-organization in the Ministry of Aviation after sacking the various heads of the aviation industry earlier today.

(i) Engr. Saleh Dumona (Director Projects, FAAN) to replace Mr. George Uriesi as Managing-Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

(ii)Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam (General Manager, Procurements, NAMA) to replace Engr. Nnamdi Udoh as Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with immense sadness and anguish, news of the callous and senseless murder by terrorists of scores of students at a college in Yobe State in the early hours of today.

On behalf of himself and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends heartfelt condolences to the parents and relatives of the murdered students. 

The President wholly condemns the heinous, brutal and mindless killing of the guiltless students by deranged terrorists and fanatics who have clearly lost all human morality and descended to bestiality.

He assures the nation that his administration will not relent in its ongoing efforts to end the scourge of terrorism in parts of the country which has sadly claimed more innocent lives today.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies will continue to prosecute the war against terror with full vigour, diligence and determination until the dark cloud of mass murder and destruction of lives and property is permanently removed from our horizon.

President GEJ is surrounded by 'incompetent' frauds - Sanusi

Nigeria's former central bank chief Lamido Sanusi on Sunday described the president who ousted him as a simple man trying to do well who has been undermined by incompetent and fraudulent aides.

Sanusi, widely respected by economists in Nigeria and abroad, was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday over alleged financial misconduct, a move seen by many analysts as politically motivated.

Sanusi has accused the state Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) of misappropriating $20 billion (14.5 billion euros), allegations that earned him powerful enemies across the government.

GEJ Sacks Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority DG Harold Demuren

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the sack of the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren. This takes effect from today 12th March 2013.

Details of his removal from office was contained in a statement issued on Monday night by the Special Assistant to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (Media), Sam Nwaobasi. According to the Statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, the decision was approved by President Jonathan after “a careful consideration of Demuren’s unsatisfactory response to the numerous concerns of stakeholders in the aviation sector”. It added that President Jonathan wished him well in his future endeavours.

Suicide bomb attack on Nigeria checkpoint kills eight

A car packed with explosives exploded in Shagari Housing Estate of Damaturu in Yobe State around noon today.

"The lone suicide bomber detonated the bomb before the car he was in could be stopped, killing the six soldiers and one civilian," Patrick Egbmuniwe, the police commissioner for Yobe State, told Reuters by telephone.

"Another civilian died of his wounds in hospital shortly after."

Witness Abdullahi Sabo said the whole neighborhood shook when the Damaturu bomb exploded.

"The car blew up outside the front of my shop, the explosion was deadly," he said. "After the dust settled, many security operatives were rushed to the hospital."

In a separate incident, police said suspected sect members had shot dead a former commissioner for the environment in neighboring Borno state, the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency, in the early hours of Saturday.
