Boko Haram Gunmen kills 29 student at Federal Govt College Yobe

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members, in the early hours of today attacked Federal Government College Buni Yadi, Yobe State and killed 29 innocent students, many of whom died in flames as the school was burned to the ground.

"Some of the students bodies were burned to ashes," said Yobe state Police Commissioner, Sanusi A Rufai who confirmed that twenty nine male students were killed and twenty four structures that include the Administration block, students hostel and staff quarters were burnt down. No girl was touched.

Reports say the assailants stormed the school premises in 6 Hilux pick up vans and motorcycles and separated only the male students before they opened fire on them.


Armed Security operatives were seen moving to the town, although there was no telecommunication network in the area. Army spokesman, Captain Eli Lazarus confirmed the attack adding that they are yet to know the number of casualties.

Gunmen Kill Pregnant Woman, 12-Year-Old Daughter

Gunmen on Monday night stormed Amodu Street, off the notorious Akala Street, Mushin, Lagos State, South-West Nigeria, killing a woman with eight-month-old  pregnancy, Musili Bello, and her 12-year-old daughter, Suliat Olowu.

Akala Street and environs, in the Idi-Oro area of Mushin, is synonymous with crimes and criminalities. “All manners of crimes take place here. Armed robbery, drug pushers, common thief, Yahoo Yahoo  boys, rapists, vehicle jackers, you just name it and you would get it at Akala Street, Mushin,” a detective conversant with the area told our correspondent.

Gunmen medical doctor, district head in Bauchi State

Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Azare in Bauchi State, Dr. Musa Muhammed, was on Saturday murdered along with Alhaji Muhammadu Manu, the District Head of Yame Community in the Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State by gunmen.

The Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Command, ASP. Hassan Mohammed, confirmed the development.
“Mohammed along with Alhaji Manu was shot dead in Yame town at around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday. They were ambushed on the Azare-Dambam road by the suspected assailants, who took them to Yame town before killing them.

The spokesman who said that no arrest had been made, said that the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Gunmen in Police uniform kill foreign national in Lagos

Gunmen  alleged  to be policemen, shot a yet-to-be identified foreign national to death around the popular Daleko Market in Lagos State, on Thursday afternoon. Seven people have since been arrested in connection with the incident, which caused panic among traders as well as bank workers around the market.

The gunmen, who were allegedly in police uniform, drove in a commercial bus and reportedly shot the man , who was driving a Toyota Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle.The gunmen had escaped before a team of policemen from Area D Police station could get to the scene.
It was gathered that the deceased, who was later identified as Santos Korie, was driving around Daleko under bridge, when the gunmen blocked his SUV and shot him several times.
Santos was said to have died on the spot, but the police in the state claimed  that he died on the way to the hospital.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, in a statement, admitted that preliminary reports pointed accusing fingers at the police. She, however, insisted that “it was not immediately ascertained whether the gunmen were hired killers in police uniform or real police officers.”

The police statement also confirmed that “on inquiry eye witnesses clustering around told men of the Area “D” that the gunmen were in police uniform and had operated in a commercial bus.”
The statement from the Lagos police also confirmed that some people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Gunmen kill Deputy Controller of Prisons in Sokoto


Gunmen on Wednesday killed the Deputy Controller of Prisons in charge of the Sokoto Central Prison, Alhaji Usman Gwandu, at SARDA Quarters in Sokoto.

The gunmen rained bullets on Gwandu’s vehicle and fled the scene after the attack without taking anything from the vehicle.

It was learnt that the gunmen trailed the controller to the scene, where they struck around 10:00 p.m. The controller was later rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, by residents where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

Gunmen kill policeman at daughters’ wedding

A policeman was shot dead in front of his house while conducting the wedding Fatiha of his daughters shortly after the Friday congregation prayer(Jumat) by unknown gunmen in Damboa town in Damboa local government area of Borno State, local sources said yesterday, saying the incident happened on Friday.

It was gathered that the policeman ran from the  town for months following death threat sent to him by unknown persons only to return to the town last week in order to marry out his daughters. ”He came back last week to marry out his two daughters but was shot dead on Friday after Jumat while the wedding was going on”. The deceased officer was from Michika local government area of Adamawa State but resident in Damboa.

Gunmen attack villages in Riyom in Plateau, 28 killed


28 people have been killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen, who also set ablaze houses in Nigeria's northern state of Plateau, officials said. 

The gunmen attacked the villages in Ganawuri district in Plateau under Riyom local government area on Monday, shooting indiscriminately and setting ablaze houses. They said houses and churches in villages of DaJak, Attakar, Zadien, Luka and Marid were set on fire by the attackers forcing the villagers to flee to neighbouring Kaduna State. Two policemen were also shot dead by the assailants. 

Lieutenant Jude Akpa, a military spokesman, confirmed the death of the policemen and was quoted by local media as saying that a team of officers was attacked as they were patrolling the crises-ridden area.

3 die as gunmen attack Emir of Kano's convoy


Gunmen opened fire on the convoy of one of Nigeria's most senior Islamic leaders in the northern city of Kano on Saturday, killing three people, although the Emir of Kano himself escaped unhurt, authorities said.

Two of his sons, the Turakin Kano and the Ciroman Kano were also said to have sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Emir was returning from a Quranic graduation ceremony which took place at Gidan Murtala mosque when the attack occurred. The window opposite where he was seated in the vehicle was also shattered during the attack but there are no indications he suffered any injuries.

The dead and wounded are said to have been taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

The Emir of Kano is one of the two most senior Islamic traditional leaders in Nigeria, the other being the Sultan of Sokoto. The current emir has been on the throne for half a century.

Gunmen kill 10 in remote Zamfara, Nigeria


Gunmen shot or hacked to death about 10 people during a raid on two neighbouring villages in Nigeria's remote northwestern state of Zamfara. 

The motive for the attack late on Saturday on the villages of Makera and Usu was not known, police said. It was also unclear whether militant Islamist sect Boko Haram or a criminal gang were behind it.

Gunmen attack police station in northern Nigeria


Heavily armed gunmen killed four people in an attack Thursday that burnt a police station and a government building in a northeastern Nigerian town, police said.
The gunmen attacked the police station in the town of Song near the border with Cameroon and engaged soldiers and police officers in a shootout.
