Gunmen kill Deputy Controller of Prisons in Sokoto

Gunmen on Wednesday killed the Deputy Controller of Prisons in charge of the Sokoto Central Prison, Alhaji Usman Gwandu, at SARDA Quarters in Sokoto.

The gunmen rained bullets on Gwandu’s vehicle and fled the scene after the attack without taking anything from the vehicle.

It was learnt that the gunmen trailed the controller to the scene, where they struck around 10:00 p.m. The controller was later rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, by residents where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
