Abike Dabiri Seeks End To Killing Of Nigerian Student Abroad

The killing of the student, Godwin Ayogu, drew attention to the maltreatment of Nigerians abroad.

But the late Ayogu is not the latest in such incident; four other Nigerian students have also been killed in varying circumstances in different institutions in Ghana.

The Chairman, House Committee on Nigerians in the Diaspora, Abike Dabiri, stressed the need for the government to employ every diplomatic avenue to bring the perpetrators to book and prevent such from becoming the recurring fate of Nigerian youths who study abroad.

Nigerian student, Jeremiah needs $30k for open heart surgery

Jeremiah Emmanuel is a Nigerian student of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.
He is just 22, but looks an eighty year old.

His problem is that he is ravaged by diseases. Since he was aged 3, he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and was placed on drugs.Campaigners on his behalf said his condition was stable for some years, but the disease has resurfaced, with some viciousness.

Right now the heart disease has made his stomach, legs and private part swollen and he needs an Open Heart Surgery in India, to stay alive. Doctors diagnosed his health defect as Ventricular septal defect.

We can all be indifferent and allow Jeremiah to die, but we certainly will all bear the burden of guilt for not helping a fellow Nigerian when it matters most.

The funding goal for the surgery has been fixed at $30,000 that is 5million naira, according to Aminat Adebukola Wahab of Shawttynatt Online Media. (www.shawttynatt.com)

A shocking video emerged today of a woman going on a rant to patients in a hospital waiting room. The two-minute clip, filmed on Saturday night at Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk, saw the woman shout abuse at students Gina Thompson, 23, of Nigeria, and her 21-year-old Spanish friend. The woman asked them ‘where do you come from’ before saying: ‘You're coming over here and you're pleading poverty. We are paying taxes you a***holes and we are going down in this crisis.

The incident took place at 7:30pm in the hospital’s accident and emergency department waiting room, where Miss Thompson had gone with her friend who had sprained her ankle playing sport.

Miss Thompson, of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is a film and media student at University Campus Suffolk and has been in the UK for two years, while her friend from Seville, Spain, arrived last September.
