Police stray bullets kills two in Ilorin

Police Officers on patrol from the Nigerian Police command in Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday 23rd, December shot two persons at about 11:40am. They victim were killed by stray bullets as they walked by the Ilorin Central Mosque.

Eye witness reports that a Police patrol van was pursuing the driver of a car. Because the driver did not stop, the policemen shot into the air, with a view to forcing him to stop before the incident occurred.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Agboola Oshodi-Glover, confirmed the incident,adding that the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary and that the yet-to-be identified policemen will be brought to book.

Boko-Haram Kills 20 Civilians In Borno on Saturday

Suspected Boko Haram members at the weekend shot dead more than 20 civilians in northern Borno State, a military spokesman said yesterday.

“The suspected sect members came armed and fired sporadic shots that killed over 20 innocent civilians,” Lt. Haruna Mohammed Sani, spokesman for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) said.

The violence took place on Saturday in Dawashe village, the army lieutenant said in a statement.

Plane crash kills all passengers on board.

A pilot and three passengers were killed Friday after a small plane crashed shortly after taking off from an airport northwest of Detroit.

Airport spokesman Dave VanderVeen said the Cessna 172 went down about 1:40 p.m. Friday at Oakland County International Airport in Waterford Township. Three people aboard the private, non-business-related flight were killed instantly, while the fourth died later at a hospital.

Fire at psychiatric hospital in Russia kills 38 amid fears patients were sedated and strapped to their beds


A fire has torn through a psychiatric hospital in Russia, killing 38 people, many of them in their beds.
The blaze broke out at the single-storey hospital building in the village of Ramensky, 70 miles north of Moscow, at around 2am local time this morning.
There were 41 people believed to be inside the building at the time – 36 patients, three nurses and two doctors.
Only three people – believed to be a nurse and two patients – escaped the fire, prompting speculation the patients were heavily sedated or strapped down and unable to escape.
At least 29 people were burned alive, said Irina Gumennaya, a spokeswoman for the federal Investigative Committee.

Tanker explosion kills 2 in Kano

Two persons were confirmed dead in a tanker explosion on Gwarzo Road, Kano, northwest Nigeria on Monday.

A moving Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, tanker rammed into a stationary tanker, resulting into a huge explosion that caused fear and panic within the area.
Residents said they feared it was yet another Improvised Explosive Devices, IIDs when the sound reverberated, spewing thick flames into the sky.

Mother Kills 9-Year-Old Son For Having Small Penis In Indonesia


A 38 -yr-old Indonesian mother was so concerned that her nine-year-old son's small penis would ruin his life so she drowned him in the bath. She told police authorities her son had a small penis before he was circumcised but that it was even smaller after the operation and therefore believed the boy would have a 'bleak future' because of the size of his genitalia.

The woman drowned the youngster in a bath filled with water before dressing him and laying his body on a bed.

Officers said the woman is fully conscious of what she had done and had handed herself in but the police have also ordered her to undergo psychological tests to assess her mental state.

Fire at illegal market In India kills at least 19


A fire that swept through a six-story building in the east Indian city of Kolkata killed at least 18 people early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The blaze injured at least eight more people, said state fire services minister Javed Khan.
The building, which was very old, housed businesses and residential apartments, he said. The fire has been put out and rescue services completed. No one is believe to be trapped inside.

Large shark kills man in New Zealand

A shark possibly 14 feet long killed a swimmer near a popular New Zealand beach on Wednesday, then disappeared after police attempting to save the man fired gunshots at the enormous predator. Muriwai Beach near Auckland was closed after the fatal attack, one of only about a dozen in New Zealand in the past 180 years. Pio Mose, who was fishing at the beach, told The New Zealand Herald he saw the swimmer struggle against the "huge" shark. He told the man to swim to the rocks, but it was too late.

A year-old baby kills 35 centimetre long snake


An encounter between a snake and a baby ended in a surprising outcome Thursday, when the infant's mother walked into his room to find him chewing on the dead reptile.

The infant, Imad Gadir, whose family resides in Shfaram, was not hurt when he bit the unlucky coin snake, but was taken to Haifa's Ramabam Medical Center, just in case.

A tiger killed its trainer during a circus performance in northern Mexico on Saturday and the Police in the northern state of Sonora identified the trainer as 35-year-old Alexander Crispin Suarez, and said he was a US citizen.

Suicide bomber kills 21 near Pakistan mosque



A powerful suicide bomb blast killed at least 21 people Friday outside a Shia Muslim mosque in a part of Pakistan’s troubled northwest plagued by sectarian violence.

The bomber detonated his explosives as worshipers attending prayers at a mosque in the town of Hangu were leaving the building, local officials and witnesses said. The blast also injured more than 35 people, some of whom were transported to hospitals in critical condition.

Gunmen Raid Deeper Life Church In Okene Killing 15 Worshipers


Unknown gunmen opened fire in a crowded Deeper Life church near the Federal College of Education inOkene, Kogi state late last night killing 15 worshipers in the church. Several worshipers were critically wounded in the attack according to the local government chairman in the area.
Emergency workers said the casualty will likely increase in a few hours. Soldiers and police from the Joint Task Force in the state have cordoned off the area.
