4 Koreans Kidnapped in Nigeria

Four Korean employees of Hyundai Heavy Industries were kidnapped by armed men in Nigeria on Monday.

The Foreign Ministry said four Korean and one Nigerian employees were abducted by speed boat from a building site in Brass Island in Bayelsa State in southern Nigeria.

The kidnappers called Hyundai Heavy and said the four Koreans are safe and they would call again. Hyundai Heavy has been building a 150,000 sq.m. plant for Bayelsa state since June last year.

A Hyundai Heavy spokesman said, "Abductions for ransom happen a lot in southern Nigeria, so we believe that the kidnappers are after money. We expect the kidnapped employees to be safe."
