Lagos State to employ displaced okada operators

The Lagos State, the government will commence recertification of affected Okada operators this week, with the aim of providing them with gainful employment in the state service.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Kayode Opeifa, made the disclosure in Ikorodu, during the public enlightenment programme organised for the commercial motorists and operators.

Opeifa said the government was desirous to create job for the okada operators and the law restricting okada operators from plying certain routes in the state was not meant to punish anybody but for the good of the state and its people, adding that the re-certification would ensure that those affected were employed by the state government.

He urged the affected people in Ikorodu to go to the Works Yard in the town to get recertified for job placement.
