Pope Benedict XVI to resign Feb. 28th

Pope Benedict XVI is to resign as head of the Catholic Church, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi says.

The 85-year-old pope is resigning "because of advanced age," Benedict told the cardinals of the Catholic Church on Monday.
