Chelsea U-21 team defeats Man U to win Junior Premier league.

Chelsea's Under-21s came from behind to secure victory at Old Trafford and claim the league crown. Tom Lawrence put the hosts ahead after 12 minutes with an expert finish beyond Jamal Blackman, before Charly Musonda levelled the scores 10 minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the box.

The Blues had the better opportunities throughout the second period as Lewis Baker fired over and Ruben Loftus-Cheek brought a good low save from Ben Amos in the Man United goal, before Baker curled a brilliant effort into the far corner in the 79th minute to secure the win.

South Africa's Jacob Zuma Wins Resounding Victory in Elections

South Africa's African National Congress has won a commanding victory in general elections, partial results showed Friday, putting President Jacob Zuma on the path to another five-year term in office and extending the party's unbroken string of post-apartheid election victories.

With the results from 97% of all polling stations tabulated, the ruling party led with 62% of the vote, down slightly from the results of 2009 elections. The Democratic Alliance was winning 22% of the vote, gaining a few percentage points from the last election. The Economic Freedom Fighters, led by the expelled ANC member Julius Malema, garnered 6%.

Brazil trounce Spain 3-0 to win third straight Confederations Cup title

Brazil has humbled world and European Champions Spain with a crushing 3-0 win in the Confederations Cup final, ending their opponents’ three-year record run of 29 unbeaten competitive matches.

Fred scored two goals and Neymar added another as host Brazil convincingly defeated world champion Spain 3-0 to win the Confederations Cup on Sunday at the Maracana Stadium.

Brazil got off to a brilliant start when a long ball into the Spanish box was misplayed by defender Álvaro Arbeloa, he actually brought the ball down with a handball — knocked the ball down onto Fred’s foot who was lying on the ground in front of Iker Casillas. The ball ended up right on Fred’s foot as the Fluminense striker lifted the ball up and over Casillas to give the Seleção a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute.

Neymar added to the lead just before halftime and Fred netted his fifth goal in five matches early in the second half to give Brazil victory. The win for the host nation was surprisingly easy against the current world champion.

Sunday’s performance marks what has been an impressive tournament for the Brazilians. With their home crowd behind them, they’re already favorites to win next summer’s big show.

KING OF CLAY! Rafael Nadal beats David Ferrer in straight sets to win French Open for a record eighth time

Rafael Nadal became the first man ever to win eight singles titles at a single grand slam with a straight-sets win over Spanish compatriot David Ferrer at the French Open.

After powering one final forehand uppercut into the open court, Rafael Nadal performed the obligatory ­modern victory celebration — lying down on his back in the wet clay of Court Philippe Chatrier.

The third seed dominated the match to win 6-3 6-2 6-3 in two hours and 16 minutes, making it seven titles from nine tournaments since his return from seven months out with a knee injury in February.

Nadal has now won 12 grand slam titles and 59 matches from 60 at Roland Garros, more than any other male player.

The final was dramatically interrupted in the second set by a masked protester carrying a flare who jumped onto Court Philippe Chatrier but was quickly tackled by security. Nadal, who will drop behind Ferrer to number five in the world despite his victory, was presented with the Coupe des Mousquetaires by sprint king Usain Bolt.

The 27-year-old said: "It's one of the most special ones. In the last year I have had some low moments but without my family I would not have done this. Without my physio I could not have done this. I never realised something like this could happen for me."

It was difficult to find anyone at Roland Garros giving Ferrer much chance of even winning a set.

Only Pete Sampras and Roger Federer, the man Nadal has tormented for much of the past decade, remain ahead of him.

However, with his triumph on Sunday Nadal has become the first man since the First World War to win the same grand slam title eight times.

“I never like to compare years,” Nadal said after his 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 ­victory. “But it’s true that this year means something very special for me. Five months ago, nobody on my team dreamed about a comeback like this.”

Serena Williams beats Sharapova to win Madrid Open and retain number 1 position

Defending champion Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Madrid Open Sunday to retain her No. 1 ranking and collect her 50th career title. With the top ranking at stake, Williams stormed out to an early lead as Sharapova struggled with her serve.

The second-ranked Russian briefly recovered her poise in the second set, but Williams' form never wavered as she eased to the title.
''I'm very happy, many thanks,'' Williams told the Caja Magica crowd in Spanish before being hoisted aloft by the ball boys to celebrate the trophy.

Williams improved her record against Sharapova to 13-2, with both losses coming in 2004.
It was Sharapova's first loss in a red clay final after winning seven in a row.

JUVENTUS WIN SECOND ITALIAN SERIE A TITLE IN A ROW AFTER BEATING PALERMO 1-0

Juventus clinched their second successive Serie A title on Sunday with a controversial 1-0 win over Palermo to secure the title as the 29th league winners with three rounds remaining.

Arturo Vidal gave Juventus the lead shortly before the hour mark, firing home a debatable penalty after Massimo Donati was adjudged to have pushed over Mirko Vucinic.

The goal sparked great celebration among the home fans, who had been momentarily silenced when Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli hit the post.

Juventus' Paul Pogba was sent off seven minutes from time for spitting at Salvatore Aronica.

The result left Juventus provisionally 14 points clear of Napoli, who host Inter Milan later.
