Nigeria defeated Mexico 3-0 in their last group game of the FIFA under 17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica to go top of their group.

Coach Bala Nkiyu's side produced an all-round impressive performance to take-over leadership of group,ensuring that they got the needed victory over Mexico which guaranteed top spot.

The two sides went into the contest effectively battling to win the group after both securing a last eight place after their first two games.

Brazil has humbled world and European Champions Spain with a crushing 3-0 win in the Confederations Cup final, ending their opponents’ three-year record run of 29 unbeaten competitive matches.

Brazil got off to a brilliant start when a long ball into the Spanish box was misplayed by defender Álvaro Arbeloa, he actually brought the ball down with a handball — knocked the ball down onto Fred’s foot who was lying on the ground in front of Iker Casillas. The ball ended up right on Fred’s foot as the Fluminense striker lifted the ball up and over Casillas to give the Seleção a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute.

Neymar added to the lead just before halftime and Fred netted his fifth goal in five matches early in the second half to give Brazil victory. The win for the host nation was surprisingly easy against the current world champion.

Sunday’s performance marks what has been an impressive tournament for the Brazilians. With their home crowd behind them, they’re already favorites to win next summer’s big show.

Jesus Navas's sudden death penalty gives Spain a place in the Confed finals

Spain kept its record unbeaten run intact as it overcame Italy 7-6 in a penalty shootout to reach the Confederations Cup soccer final against host nation Brazil.

Jesus Navas scored with the 14th penalty kick to send top-ranked Spain into the title match after the teams failed to score in 90 minutes of regulation play and half an hour of extra time last night at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza. It thus went into penalty shootout, which Spain clinched 7-6.

All of the first 10 players to step up to the spot scored, leaving it down to sudden death, and it was Leonardo Bonucci who was first to miss at 6-6 all before substitute Jesus Navas dispatched the winning kick beyond the reach of Gianluigi Buffon.

The final, against the tournament hosts, will be in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

“Fortune went our way in the shootout,” Spain coach Vicente del Bosque told reporters. “Despite all the things they’ve won, our players feel like kids. They’re playing Brazil at the Maracana and that’s taken them back to boyhood days.”

Last night’s win extended the record undefeated run for world and European champion Spain to 29 competitive games, two more than the mark set by France in 1999.
While Spain had 62 percent of first-half possession, Italy, the 2006 world champion and runner-up at last year’s European Championship, outshot its opponent by nine to two.

The final of the two-week Confederations Cup, an eight-nation warmup for next year’s World Cup, will be played Sunday, June 30 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Lady Gaga vomited on stage not once, twice, but at least four times mid-performance at a show in Barcelona, Spain and she just kept on singing and dancing throughout the entire puke fest. The 26-year-old singer was right in the middle of "Edge of Glory" when, with her back to the crowd, she leaned over and hurled onto the stage. In a video posted of her first stomach-churning moment, her backup dancer stopped and put his hand on her shoulder to comfort Gaga, but she went right back into the song's choreography.

Gaga, who reportedly had been battling the flu, had a good sense of humor about it all after the video made the rounds online. "Was praying nobody saw but actually its quite a good laugh if u need one!" she tweeted along with the 27-second clip.
