Nollywood actor, Justus Esiri dies at 70

This is beginning to look like a not too pleasant year for Nigerian Entertainers as we're still mourning the passing away of Goldie and two other actors, another movie icon, Justus Esiri, has died.

Mr. Esiri, Born on 20 November 1942 in Oria-Abraka, Deltta State, Esiri attended Urhobo College Effurun in the then Bendel State, Warri. and father of pop star, Dr. Sid, died last night. Details of his death are still sketchy but  a source said the late Justus Esiri has been secretly battling diabetes for a while but his family chose to make it a secret until his sudden demise at the age of 70.

The death of the veteran actor is a shock to many people. Niece of the actor and beautician, Juliet Esiri of Okin Arewa said “I wish its all a dream”


Mini Biography
Declared one of the strong men of the African film industry, Justus Esiri has indeed earned his fame. He attended Urohobo College and later went to Germany to study engineering where he developed an interest for theater. Thus he began his acting career on stage in Germany. He was the only Nigerian male performing on stage in the years 1968/69. He also worked for voice of Nigeria VON, German Service as a translator. He was performing on stage in Germany when a delegation from Nigeria invited him to perform in Nigeria in a Government sponsored program, when he went to Nigeria, his homeland, he never went back to Europe.

His fame was launched widely for his role in the ever popular African TV series, the village headmaster where he played the "Headmaster".
