BBA Eviction: Bolt and Maria out of The Chase

Bolt and Maria were the weakest link this week, they are out of The Chase and heading home. Bolt followed shortly after his lady love Betty, who was Evicted in Week 4 while Maria didn’t even know she was replaced and up for Eviction. Ouch!

Maria, who has never been under the Nomination knife was replaced by Diamond HoH Nando earlier this week, saving his own head. You could see that Maria was shocked but like a true lady she carried herself with confidence and poise.

Big man Bolt, was as stunned but he probably saw this Eviction coming considering that he had dodged it at least three times thanks to Betty and Melvin. Seems like Bolt’s luck has now run out and the Housemates will have to do without their resident bully.

But it’s like Nando had said in his Diary Session, that when a fellow Chasemate is Evicted it only hurts for all of five minutes, they talk about how much of a shock it was and then life goes on. The same will be done for both Maria and Bolt. Life will definitely go on.

Tyre failure wrecks Hamilton’s hopes at British Grand Prix

Lewis Hil
Sudden tire failure wrecked Lewis Hamilton's hopes of a home British Grand Prix victory on Sunday after the Mercedes driver had led from pole position.

Formula One's 2008 world champion led from the start but suffered a dramatic failure on lap eight when his left rear tyre suddenly deflated on the Wellington Straight at Silverstone.
The Briton struggled back to the pits on three wheels and a rim, with the remains of the tyre carcass flailing around, before he could pit in 18th place and resume in 21st.

I Would Have Died - Eminem Talks about Drug Usage in the past

In a new documentary How to Make Money Selling Drugs (produced by former "Entourage" star Adrian Grenier). Eminem is opening up about his scary drug abuse, revealing that he almost died during one overdose.

"Once I took my first Vicodin, it was like this feeling of, 'Ahhhhh,' like everything was not only mellow, but I didn't feel any pain," he says in a clip from the film posted on YouTube. "It just kinda numbed things. I don't remember when exactly it became a problem, I just remember liking it more and more."

The rapper, who entered rehab for sleeping pill addiction in 2005 and addressed the problem in his 2010 album Recovery, has admitted in the past to taking 10 to 20 Vicodin (painkiller) pills daily. "Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don't even know what I'm taking," he said.

The rapper said he's come a long way and offered encouragement to those who may be struggling with the same addictions.

"I'm growing. In the beginning, I just couldn't believe that anybody could be naturally happy or naturally function or be just enjoying life in general without being on something," he said. "So I would say to anybody, 'It does get better, you know.' It just does.'"

"How To Make Money Selling Drugs" which opened on June 29 also features interviews with Russell Simmons, 50 Cent, Susan Sarandon, Woody Harrelson and more.

VIDEO: 15-yr-old creates Flashlight that runs on human body heat as her Google Science Fair project

Ann Makosinski, a 15-year-old student with Canada’s St. Michaels University School, has created a flashlight that is powered solely by the heat of a human hand. For this, she has been chosen as one of 15 finalists for Google’s global science fair.
She created the device using the idea of Peltier tiles, which are devices that create energy when one side is heated while the other side is cooled. Combining this, which created enough power, with a store-bought circuit, which provided enough voltage, she ended up with The Hollow Flashlight. Inside the flashlight is nothing but air, which acts as the cooling agent. So, wrap your hand around the outside, and you've got the necessary temperature duality.
It requires absolutely no outside power source, other than a human hand. And it only cost her $26. If they ever begin mass producing these things (and they really should), Makosinski thinks the flashlights can be made for even cheaper.

Woman’s Breast Implants Bursts After 4 Hours of iPhone Gaming

A 26-year-old Beijing woman's breast implant exploded after she spent four continuous hours lying on her stomach and playing video games on her cell phone.

The unidentified woman rushed to a hospital in Beijing after she suffered pain in her chest. On reaching the hospital she found that her breast implants had exploded due to lying on her chest for four contiguous hours while playing Dragon Summon on her iphone.

On proper examination, the doctors declared that the low quality of implant, combined with the prolonged pressure of lying on the stomach for an extended period of time led to the rupture of the breast implants.

The woman had undergone a breast augmentation surgery five years ago to boost her low self esteem. The doctors responded quickly and took out the ruptured implants before her condition got worse.

Having a Bigger Desk Can Make You More Dishonest

Body language experts sometimes advise those working in the world of business to appear more confident by adjusting their posture. (Don’t cross your arms; try to take up as much space as possible without looking awkward.) But a new study suggests that people who are able to spread out because they have a large desk or wide car seat, for example, are also more likely to cheat, steal money, or break traffic rules.

BULL'S EYE BY JOSEPH EDGAR - OJB JEZEREEL: THE TRAGEDY OF BEING A CELEBRITY

Now as usual, I will toe the other line. I will take a minority position. For the last one or two weeks, we have been daily assailed by the travails our lovely producer has been going through with his health. I have read that he has issues with his Kidney and needs urgently the sum of N15million to get treatment. All his colleagues have been rallying around him. One, I read even drove a N15m jeep to go make her own donation. At the last count, Don Jazzy, Psquare and Iyanya have all contributed to the Fund. It is slowly but surely grinding into a platform for publicity hungry ‘celebutants.

Mobile phone usage while driving now attracts jail sentence - FRSC Boss, Mr. Osita Chidoka

The Federal Road Safety Commission ,FRSC, has announced that any person caught using the mobile phone, while driving, would no longer be fined but immediately taken to court and jailed.

Corps Marshal, FRSC, Mr. Osita Chidoka made this know at a press conference in Abuja saying that the new measure was part of a newly launched campaign to reduce the increased spate of road crashes on Nigerian roads. Other offences like speed driving, dangerous overtaking and overloading would equally attract court action instead of the usual fines.

Commercial bus drivers are now expected to install speed limit devices in their vehicles so they henceforth should not exceed 100km per hour.

National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers,NURTW, however admitted that some drivers are guilty of the aforementioned leading to road accidents and crimes.

5 Questions Great Job Candidates Ask by Jeff Haden

Many of the questions potential new hires ask are throwaways. But not these.

Be honest. Raise your hand if you feel the part of the job interview where you ask the candidate, "Do you have any questions for me?" is almost always a waste of time.

Thought so.

The problem is most candidates don't actually care about your answers; they just hope to make themselves look good by asking "smart" questions. To them, what they ask is more important than how you answer.

Great candidates ask questions they want answered because they're evaluating you, your company--and whether they really want to work for you.

Here are five questions great candidates ask:

Jesus Navas's sudden death penalty gives Spain a place in the Confed finals

Spain gets to Confed finals
Spain kept its record unbeaten run intact as it overcame Italy 7-6 in a penalty shootout to reach the Confederations Cup soccer final against host nation Brazil.

Jesus Navas scored with the 14th penalty kick to send top-ranked Spain into the title match after the teams failed to score in 90 minutes of regulation play and half an hour of extra time last night at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza. It thus went into penalty shootout, which Spain clinched 7-6.

All of the first 10 players to step up to the spot scored, leaving it down to sudden death, and it was Leonardo Bonucci who was first to miss at 6-6 all before substitute Jesus Navas dispatched the winning kick beyond the reach of Gianluigi Buffon.

The final, against the tournament hosts, will be in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

“Fortune went our way in the shootout,” Spain coach Vicente del Bosque told reporters. “Despite all the things they’ve won, our players feel like kids. They’re playing Brazil at the Maracana and that’s taken them back to boyhood days.”

Last night’s win extended the record undefeated run for world and European champion Spain to 29 competitive games, two more than the mark set by France in 1999.
While Spain had 62 percent of first-half possession, Italy, the 2006 world champion and runner-up at last year’s European Championship, outshot its opponent by nine to two.

The final of the two-week Confederations Cup, an eight-nation warmup for next year’s World Cup, will be played Sunday, June 30 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Government bans civil servants from accepting chieftaincy titles.

According to The Guardian
TO sanitise the federal service, the Federal Government Tuesday banned its workers from accepting chieftaincy titles and other sundry awards except after retirements or disengagement from the service.

This latest instruction is coming barely a month after a similar directive was given to prevent civil servants in engaging in any form of business except farming at weekend.  The move, many may see as a welcome development from the part of government in view of making civil servants to be free from undue political interests or manipulations as enshrined in the civil service rules.

In a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji said that it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, he described as inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.

In a statement made available to The Guardian Tuesday, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, however, directed that where a civil servant must hold a traditional title bestowed on him or her by inheritance or receive any awards, due clearance must be obtained from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Rafael Nadal crashes out of Wimbledon in first round.

Rafael Nadal was on the receiving end of a monumental Wimbledon upset for the second straight year on Monday, being dumped out of the tournament before its opening day was through.

Little known Belgian Steve Darcis was Nadal's conqueror on Court One, ripping through their clash in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8), 6-4, and condemning the 12-time Grand Slam champion to his first-ever defeat in the first round of a major.

"Nobody was expecting this," Darcis said in a television interview. "Rafa did not play his best tennis today. I think if you start to focus on him it is tougher. I tried to focus on myself and what I had to do and I think I did great today."

Mandela's condition still critical!

Nelson Mandela's condition in a Pretoria hospital remained critical for a second straight day Monday, said South Africa's president who described the stricken anti-apartheid hero as being "asleep" when he visited Mandela the previous evening.

President Jacob Zuma told at least 60 foreign and South African journalists that doctors are doing everything possible to ensure the 94-year-old's wellbeing and comfort on his 17th day in the hospital.

The president repeated some of the content of a presidential statement issued on Sunday and refused to give any details about Mandela's condition, saying: "I'm not a doctor."

"Madiba is critical in the hospital, and this is the father of democracy. This is the man who fought and sacrificed his life to stay in prison, the longest-serving prisoner in South Africa. He is one of those who has contributed to democracy," Zuma said, using Mandela's clan name. "All of us in the country should accept the fact that Madiba is now old.

As he ages, his health will ... trouble him and I think what we need to do as a country is to pray for him."

It's 7 years for former Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi for paying for sex with an under-age prostitute.

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi was yesterday convicted by a Milan court of paying for sex with an under-age prostitute during infamous "bunga bunga" parties at his villa and then using his influence to try to cover it up.

Berlusconi, 76, was sentenced to seven years in prison and barred from public office for life - a sentence that could mean the end of his two-decade political career. However, there are two more levels of appeal before the sentence would become final, a process that can take months.

Spanish national football team players have been robbed at their hotel in the northern Brazilian city of Recife, football officials said on Thursday.

FIFA confirmed police were investigating after Spanish media said players had money stolen from their rooms while in Recife for a Confederations Cup match against Uruguay on Sunday.

Brazilians block stadium ahead of Brazil, Mexico match

More than 500 people blocked access to a stadium where Brazil was to play Mexico on Wednesday to demand government spend more on health and education and less on the World Cup.
"Brazil, we are going to wake up, a professor is worth more than Neymar," they shouted, referring to a popular star of the national team.

Brazil is currently hosting the Confederations Cup as a warm-up for next year's football World Cup, but hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets in recent days to denounce the events' $15 billion price-tag.
"While you watch television, I am changing the country. Football no, we want education," read one placard.

Brazil, which trounced Japan in the Confederations Cup opening game in Brasilia Saturday, was to face Mexico in the $240 million Novo Castelao arena in the northeastern city of Fortaleza later Wednesday.
"We are protesting the use of public funds for the construction of stadiums, money that should be used for education," said 18-year-old Matheus Dantas, amid a sea of Brazilian flags.

"For now all is quiet, we are not going to intervene," a policeman said.

The protesters also railed against the country's political class, which is widely seen as corrupt.
Crack federal police units of the National Force are boosting security in the six cities hosting Confederations Cup matches during the tournament, which runs through June 30, according to the justice ministry.
