Standard Chartered Launches ‘Breeze’ Banking App

As part of its move to revolutionalise a digital banking that will enhance its customers’ banking experience, leading financial institution, Standard Chartered Nigeria Limited, has launched ‘Breeze’, a new digital banking application.

The introduction of the ‘Breeze’ App is part of the bank’s focus in digitalising and socialising personal banking which is meant to extend customers’ digital lifestyle into banking.

Nigeria is the first West African nation to feature the App.


According to the bank, ‘Breeze’ is a mobile banking application designed to provide customers with a superior convenient and personalised banking experience. It comes with security features similar to those used for online banking.

It would later be developed into a ‘virtual branch’ where customers can place requests as well as apply for products and services.

According to Standard Chartered Managing Director and CEO, Bola Adesola, ”Today’s consumer are tech-savvy and mobile. They want banking that not only meet their financial needs but also anticipates them. We believe that technology has to be useful, intuitive and most importantly seamless.”

”We believe digitalisation goes beyond online and mobile banking services. We continue to transform our business and invest for long-term growth, with a focus on digital technologies that we believe will shape the future of banking,” she added.

Speaking on the product launch, Standard Chartered’s Regional Head of consumer Banking, West Africa, Carol Oyedeji, said, ”The launch of ‘Breeze’ follows extensive research into the banking behaviour of individuals and aim to provide customers with an easy, secure and user-friendly banking channel.”

‘Breeze’ is available for iPad, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices.

To activate, potential users will have to download the applications from the various app stores available and then call the call centre for their MPin. For USSD phone users, they are to call the bank’s call centre for the MPin and dail a short code *389*068# to activate.
