British national kidnapped in Nigeria released

A Brit who was kidnapped last week Tuesday after arriving MMA Lagos airport was released on Sunday.

The man was kidnapped on July 16 by gunmen who attacked his car shortly after he left the airport's premises, his Nigerian driver was shot in the hand and the sum of $1million was demanded as ransom.

A combined team of operatives from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, and their counterpart from the Special Intelligence Bureau, SIB, stormed an uncompleted two storey building at Okota Isolo area of Lagos State, rescuing the British national

"We can confirm the release of a British national today in Nigeria, following his abduction on 16 July," a statement from the British High Commission said, giving no further details.
