Speaking to state house correspondents, the minister said that certifying and recertifying of airlines is a continuous process and can lead to suspension of the operations of any airline at any time.
The aviation minister described the recent crash of the associated airlines as unfortunate insisting that the Nigerian airspace is safe.
It will be recalled that the airline’s Mcdonnell Douglas MD-83 crashed in Lagos in the Iju Ishaga area, killing all passengers on board after it crashed into a two-storey building.
Dana airline’s operation license was suspended after the crash for investigations to be carried out by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), but, the airline’s licence was restored in September 2012, before the inquiry into the accident was concluded until this fresh directive was handed down.
