It was an overwhelming experience as the ancient city of Benin unleashed the talents embedded in it at the sixth regional auditions of Africa’s No 1 talent show, Nigeria’s Got Talent on Monday, October 21, 2013
Excalibur Hotel, Benin was the the auditions witnessed a massive inflow of diverse talents of various age groups all through the day ranging from dancing to singing, rapping, comedy as well as first time talents such as mathematical wizards and fashion designing. Coming back for another shot at the sum of N10 million were previous contestants such as James Jude, who will always be remembered for his legendary performance of Micheal Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’, that left Kate Henshaw in tears last season.
His dance partner, made it to the final 10 last year but returned this time as a solo dance act. “I love to impact souls with my music and that is what I am going to do again this season but this time stronger and better,” reassured Jude James.
“Benin will always remain the city of legendary and heart warming performances for us. From previous magnificent acts such as Amarachi Uyanne to Jude and many more, we are not surprised at the diversity of talent found here today, said Mrs. Ugochi Pedro, Director of Special Projects and Head of Legal Affairs, Optima Media Group.
“We are glad and beyond impressed that the season one winner, Amarachi set up a talent school for people here in Benin, which has started giving room for amazing talents like herself as this was made known during the energetic and professional performances of some of these acts during the audition,” she added.
Stealing the show for the day in Benin was little M.I (Chidi). The extremely shy 4-year-old boy, who happens to be a student of the dance academy set up by Amarachi Uyanne, came in to display his act of rapping.
Chidi, who first took to his hills on seeing the judges, left the judges with warm memories of him after his performance. Despite the fact that he dropped some lines that were audible to him alone, little Chidi believes that he can be the next M.I when he is all grown.
