NBC announced that the multi-hyphenate star, Jennifer Lopez will produce and headline her own drama, “Shades of Blue,” in fall 2015. The network has already ordered 13 episodes of the series, which means it is betting heavily on Lopez’s appeal.

In the show, Lopez will play single mother and detective Harlee McCord, who goes to work for the FBI’s anti-corruption squad. Harlee finds herself having to investigate her close-knit colleagues, many of whom have helped her raise her daughter.

Writer Adi Hasak (“From Paris With Love”) will pen the pilot and serve as executive producer, alongside Lopez’s “American Idol” pal Ryan Seacrest.

With “Shades of Blue,” Lopez seems to be returning to a similar role to her U.S. Marshal character in the 1998 movie “Out of Sight,” for which she earned excellent reviews and widespread acclaim.
