10 Simple Ways to Sleep Better at night

If you do everything right each night—you know, going to bed early and avoiding drinking—your body's internal clock should wake you up at the same time every morning. For the rest of us, here are ten simple ways to a better night's sleep.

1. Power down electronics. 
The first thing to do is to turn off the computer (once you've finished reading this, of course) and all of your tech toys, including the television. It's best to do this about one hour before retiring for the evening. Too much light sends mixed signals to your sleep hormones (which kick in at about 9 or 10 P.M.) making it harder to fall asleep. Try reading a book or magazine, instead. 

Robert Downey Jr.'s Son, Indio Arrested for Cocaine Possession

Robert Downey Jr.'s son Indio has been arrested. The 20-year-old, who appeared in his father's 2005 film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on felony narcotics possession charges.

The 20-year-old was a passenger in a car, and when the police pulled the vehicle over, they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Indio Downey was taken to jail and released shortly after midnight Monday on $10,000 bail. His next court date is Aug. 29, 2014

Former French President quizzed for Abuse of Office

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was held for questioning on Tuesday over suspicions he used his influence to secure leaked details of an inquiry into alleged irregularities in his 2007 election campaign.

It was the first time a former French head of state has been held in police custody and is the latest blow to Sarkozy's hopes of a come-back after his 2012 election defeat by Socialist rival Francois Hollande. The conservative politician denies all wrongdoing in a string of investigations involving him.

Sarkozy arrived early on Tuesday to be quizzed by investigators at their offices in Nanterre, west of Paris, after his lawyer was also held for questioning on Monday.

A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman, who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok, has been busted by troops, a statement by the Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said.  

The suspect Babuji Ya’ari, who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF, which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza.  His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.

“Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.

“The arrest of the businessman, who is known to deal in tricycles, has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists’ intelligence cell who are women.

“One of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested.  Prior to her arrest, Hafsat coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group.  In her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of 10, 000 Naira is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.

The statement further noted that “another female suspect named Haj Kaka, who doubles as an armourer and a spy for the terrorists group, has also been arrested.  Until their arrest, all the suspects actively operated a terrorists’ intelligence cell in collaboration with others still at large.

Meanwhile, troops deployed in Goniri, Yobe State, over the weekend, had an encounter with terrorists, resulting in casualties on both sides after the attack was successfully repelled.

Adidas revokes all endorsement with Luis Suarez

Adidas will stop using Luis Suarez as one of its ambassador and promotional star for World Cup adverts after his four-month ban from football activities for biting Italian Giorgio Chiellini.

“Adidas fully backs FIFA’s decision,” and said “We do not accept the recent behavior of Luis Suarez and shall remind him of the high standards we expect of our players.

“We have no plan to use Suarez for any other marketing activities during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.”

FIFA banned Suarez for nine internationals and from football for four months and also fined him 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000).

FIFA charges Suarez for biting Italy's Chiellini, faces multi-match ban

Luiz Suarez has made history as the inaugural winner of the FIFA ‘Golden Tooth’ award. He has been charged by FIFA for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup's Group D match on Tuesday.

FIFA said early Wednesday that its disciplinary committee has opened proceedings against the Uruguay forward. If the panel finds Suarez guilty of assaulting an opponent, FIFA rules call for a ban of at least two matches up to a maximum of 24 months.

Suarez, who has twice been suspended previously for biting, appeared to take a chomp at Italy's Giorgio Chiellini. 

Chiellini pled to the referee while showing his shoulder, and Suarez appeared to be holding his mouth in apparent pain. 

Suarez escaped any immediate punishment.

The crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly today (Monday) took a new dimension as the lawmakers resorted to physical combat in a bid to enforce the suspension of their colleagues.

Trouble began when the court bailiff served contempt proceedings on the four lawmakers while they sat with their other colleagues outside the Edo State House of Assembly.

Calling each other unprintable names when both factions arrived the House for sitting on Monday morning, they insisted they were going in despite the suspension and injunction from the courts.

Sudan to release woman on death row for apostasy

27 years old Meriam Ibrahim, a Sudanese woman on death row for apostasy had her sentence canceled and was ordered released by a Khartoum court on Monday, the country's official news agency reported.

The Court of Cassation canceled the death sentence against her after defense lawyers presented their case. The court ordered her release.

Ibrahim, whose father was Muslim but who was raised by her Christian mother, was convicted of apostasy for marrying a Christian. Sudan's penal code criminalizes the conversion of Muslims to other religions, a crime punishable by death. Ibrahim married a Christian man from southern Sudan in a church ceremony in 2011. As in many Muslim nations, Muslim women in Sudan are prohibited from marrying non-Muslims, though Muslim men can marry outside their faith.

Referee in USA - Portugal grants first ever World Cup water break

In the 39th minute of the USA's clash with Portugal in Manaus, midfielder Jermaine Jones limped off to get some medical attention for his tattooed knee. Referee Nestor Pitana appeared to use the break in play to call a discretionary water break — the first time this has ever happened at a World Cup.

Due to the heat and humidity at several venues in this tournament, officials are permitted to grant one short hydration break in each half.

Furthermore, a Brazilian judge has ordered mandatory water breaks every 30 minutes if the temperature reaches and exceeds 90 Fahrenheit. 

According to the FIFA website, the temperature in the Amazonian stadium for this group G clash reached 86 Fahrenheit, with 66% humidity.

Despite similar temperatures during England's clash with Italy in Manaus last weekend, no water break was given. This lack of respite clearly had its effect on players — Andrea Pirlo was reduced from his normal walking pace to a slightly slower walking pace.

One Direction Star, Louis Tomlinson buys Doncaster Rovers

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has completed a takeover of English football club Doncaster Rovers, a spokesman for his co-owner said Thursday.

Tomlinson, 22, is a lifelong fan of his hometown club, which plays in England’s third flight, and turned out for their reserves in February, which he described as a “childhood dream.”

Now the boyband sensation has gone a step further by taking control of the northern English team alongside businessman John Ryan. “It’s done, the takeover is complete,” Ryan’s spokesman said, adding that more details would be revealed at a press conference later Thursday.

One Direction became global superstars after competing in television talent show “The X-Factor” in 2010.
They have sold 35 million records worldwide, with hit singles including “Best Song Ever” and “What Makes You Beautiful”.

Gov. Rotimi Amaechi held hostage by Soldiers in Ondo State - River State Government

The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has been held hostage by security agents in Odudu, Ondo State.

Governor Amaechi was said to have left Port Harcourt on Thursday morning for Ekiti to join the APC rally before the governorship elections.

The Governor was heading to Akure where his aircraft was parked but was rounded by soldiers and security personnel, who denied him entry into Ekiti, claiming they had orders to do so.

Meanwhile, the mega rally for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Governor Kayode Fayemi, at the governorship elections coming up in the state on Saturday had started in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Perrier Jouet hosted the 1st edition of the “My Boyfriend is Out of Lagos” Party at SIP Bar & Lounge and it was a fun night with beautiful ladies, fun gents, yummy drinks and music blasting through out the night.

At the event, the theme of the evening included stairs decorated with Japanese anemones (the signature flowers of the champagne brand), female guests given hidden identities with masquerade masks and dancers dressed in sexy attires as they handed out drinks.

The masked dancers later performed a dance routine which kicked off dancing for everyone!

On Saturday, 14th June 2014, 2Face Idibia held the listening session for his 6th album THE ASCENSION. The star-studded event took place at Ariz Bar and Grill in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Top players in the music industry were given the opportunity to listen and give feedback about the songs off the highly anticipated album. 

Entertainment industry heavyweights such as Kenny Ogungbe,  DJ Jimmy Jatt, Olisa Adibua of Beat FM, Kwame of Nigezie and Ayeni Adekunl were amongst the VIP guests present at the private pre-release listening session. Personalities such as Tosyn Bucknor, Omalicha, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Noble Igwe were also present.The event was hosted by Andre Blaze. 

2Face spoke passionately about the album as he expressed extreme gratitude to all the guests who took time out of their busy schedules to listen to the yet to be released songs.

Spain scored the first goal, and deservedly so, and then were keeping possession pretty easily. But just before halftime, the Netherlands found a way to strike back, taking advantage of some pretty terrible defending by Spain.

Brazil vs. Croatia: Final score 3-1 in 2014 World Cup Opener

If opening games are anything to go by, then we could be in for a cracker of a World Cup. 

The hosts went behind after seven minutes when Marcelo turned a cross into his own net - a goal which was met with stunned silence by the crowd before Neymar answered with a first-half equalizer, and a dive in the box from striker Fred led to the go-ahead goal in the second half on a Neymar penalty kick.

Oscar then added some security in extra time, and Brazil is back on track at the head of Group A.

It could have been worse for Brazil when Neymar clashed with Croatia midfielder Luka Modric, but referee Yuichi Nishimura only produced a yellow card.

In the end, it was a narrow victory for Brazil, but one they'll hope to build on if they can shrug off some of the immense pressure they're under. It was significant before, and despite the win, it may now get worse given the manner of their victory.

Chelsea sign five-year deal with Cesc Fabregas for £30 million from Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas completed his shocking £30million switch to Chelsea yesterday and confirmed Arsenal snubbed the chance to re-sign him. But he told disappointed Arsenal fans on Twitter "Once a gunner, always a gunner" after admitting the club turned down the option to buy him back.

The 27-year-old has returned to the Premier League and will wear the No.4 shirt. The player's former club Arsenal has a buy-back option, inserted when the Spaniard left the Emirates in 2011.
