DOCUMENTARY ON EKO ATLANTIC CITY: Great Wall Of Lagos

The Great Wall of Lagos is formidable in its design and already does a magnificent job of protecting the coastline, even though it's not yet finished.

Over the last 100 years, pounding waves from the Atlantic Ocean have eroded the land off Lagos, bringing the sea closer to the financial centre of Victoria Island. The threat of serious flooding was a major concern. Before the Great Wall, tidal surges used to regularly cause water and debris to spill over onto the main coastal highway -- Ahmadu Bello Way.
Today the highway is clear from flooding, already protected, thanks to the development of Eko Atlantic.

Kerry makes sub-Saharan Africa visit, warns Nigeria against Human right violation

Making his first official trip to sub-Saharan Africa, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Saturday demanded that Nigeria respect human rights as it cracks down on Islamist extremists and pledged to work hard in the coming months to ease tensions between Sudan and South Sudan.

Kerry, attending the African Union's 50th anniversary, backed the Nigerian government's efforts to root out Boko Haram, an al-Qaida-linked radical sect. But he said there is no excuse for abuses by armed forces in Nigeria's long neglected north, where President Goodluck Jonathan has declared emergency rule.

"We defend the right completely of the government of Nigeria to defend itself and to fight back against terrorists," Kerry said. He added, however, that he has raised his concerns with Nigerian officials to insist on the military "adhering to the highest standards and not itself engaging in atrocities."

"One person's atrocities do not excuse another's," Kerry said. "Revenge is not the motive. It's good governance, it's ridding yourself of a terrorist organization so that you can establish a standard of law that people can respect."

Suicide Jumper Lands and kills 5-Year-Old in Tragic Incident

A suicide jumper has killed a 5-year-old girl, crushing her as he jumped to his death from the 11th floor of an apartment building in Busan, South Korea.

It is horrible to commit suicide, but taking out a 5-year-old while killing yourself is the ultimate selfish act. The 39-year-old jumper killed the 5-year-old in Busan, South Korea.
South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world which is 2.5 times higher than any other highly developed country, with an estimated 50 suicides per day.

The jumper died instantly, the little girl died later at a hospital due severe injuries, which included numerous broken bones along with brain damage.

So far, South Korean authorities have no motive as to why this 39-year-old man jumped to his death killing a 5-year-old along the way. He did not leave a suicide note, and they have not been able to determine why he wanted to commit suicide.

Soda and Other Beverages and the Risk of Kidney Stones

Adults who drink at least one sugar-sweetened drink a day are slightly more likely to develop kidney stones than people who rarely imbibe them, according to a new study.

While the recommendation for kidney stone prevention has been to drink a lot of fluids, the study suggests that it's not just the amount of fluid but the type of drink that also matters.

Dr. Gary Curhan, the senior author of the study, said patients often ask for dietary advice to help prevent kidney stones.

While the recommendation has been to drink plenty of fluids, Curhan said, patients often ask, "what should I drink? There's a lot of lore out there." To see whether the type of beverage might matter, Curhan, of the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and his colleagues collected data from three massive surveys of nearly 200,000 people.

UEFA introduces 10-match ban for racist behaviour and abuse

Racist abuse by players or officials will carry a minimum 10-match suspension, the UEFA executive committee has confirmed.

UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino announced the changes in April and they will be included in next season's disciplinary regulations. UEFA is only able to enforce measures in its own competitions but will ask its 53 members to follow its lead at the congress on Friday.

"An association should adopt the same or similar measures,'' Infantino said. ''UEFA has always acted in a way to try to convince people rather than impose. I don't think you measure the way of fighting against racism in one simple measure and sanction."

Racism in football has come to the fore this season following a number of unsavoury incidents.
Kevin-Prince Boateng led his Milan team-mates from the pitch after being abused by fans of Pro Patria during a friendly in January and, on May 12, the Serie A game between Roma and Milan became the first to be temporarily suspended after Roma fans did not heed loudspeaker warnings stop abusing Boateng and Mario Balotelli.

National associations had previously been fined by UEFA but new measures will target clubs directly, with escalated punishments beginning with a fine and partial stadium closure and rising to full stadium closure and a €50,000 fine.

Meanwhile, the minimum ban for abusing match officials has been raised from ten to 15 matches and the sanction for insulting an official has risen two to three games.

'Al Qaeda' Twin Bomb Attacks In Niger Kill 25

Twin suicide bomb attacks by militants at an army barracks and a French-run uranium mine 100 miles apart kill up to 25 people.

According to reports, dozens of people were killed in the blasts, including 18 soldiers. The attackers are holding army recruits hostage at the Agadez base, the Niger’s authorities have released.

Niger’s Interior Minister Abdou Labo said that 13 persons were injured and that six of them suffered serious injuries. Defense Minister Mahamadou Karidjo described the attackers as "redskins", in a reference to members of the country's Tuareg and Arab groups. Some 30 minutes after the first blast, a suicide bomber blew up an explosives-laden four-by-four at the Somair uranium mine some 250 kilometers north of Agadez.

The attacks are believed to have been carried out by Islamic extremists based in neighbouring Mali but A member of the Niger government said responsibility for the attack had been claimed by the MUJWA militant group, an al Qaeda-linked West African militant group.

The attack on the barracks resulted in a fierce gun battle. Security forces returned the town to calm but one attacker was still holding soldiers hostage, officials said.

Another spokesman, Abdou Labo, said in a press conference: "We have 19 dead in Agadez, 18 soldiers and a civilian," adding that four suicide bombers were killed in the blast.

"A fifth bomber has locked himself up in an office with several trainee officers as hostages," he added.

VIDEO: Miguel's Jump Kick Fail At Billboard Music Awards

R&B crooner Miguel made a new friend at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night after he miscalculated a jump kick from one part of the stage to another during his performance of "Adorn," falling more than a bit short and landing on an audience member's head and/or neck leaving at least one of them bruised.

The dramatic collision came at the tail end of his performance, with his right leg landing on top of one woman's head and his left side bashing another fan's arm. The singer finished his performance while splayed on the ground as the young audience behind looked on in a mixture of awe and confusion.

Immediately following the incident, Miguel emerged backstage with one of the fans, who was holding an ice pack on her arm as the two were interviewed by Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde, right.

"Well, I think it's kind of clear what happened," he said, looking visibly embarrassed. "But I'm very happy to bring my new friend, Khyati, we just met . Unfortunately we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we're okay."

The young woman seemed to take the injury in stride, looking thrilled to be backstage with Miguel and even dropping a pun when asked what she thought of him.

"I Adorn him," she said.

NEW MUSIC: Temisan - ForDGyals

Songwriter, musician TEMISAN  has been described as a heart robber by many fans " But that's not saying his music is sad or depressing. The "melancholy" represents TEMISAN's reflectiveness, youth, and poetic nature. In fact, when it comes to his music, poetry comes before a single note is even written.

"I try to pride myself on lyrics," TEMISAN explains. "I think it's incredibly important that lyrics are honest and come from somewhere that really means something to the writer."

The question still remains, whose side is Temisan on? Every song points in the direction every girl craves for. Temisan is slowly building a huge fan base with the ladies and with this song "forDgyals" he has once more stolen their hearts earning himself the title of "Temisan forDgyals" LOL. 'ForDGyals' was produced by El Emcee...This is once again another classic.
